The craze of social media is at its peak these days. More than half of the world's population currently uses social media. Most of the people use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Tiktok.

Social media sites enable us to connect with friends, colleagues and family. In addition to maintaining personal connections and networks, companies ranging from small to large use social media apps to reach and engage with consumers. At the same time, some people use social media only to get information.

Social media is a medium through which each other's ideas can be easily conveyed to the masses within a few minutes. Therefore, we can say that social media plays an important role in the social, political, economic, educational and all other types of development of the country.

Kepios' Digital Advisory report states that approximately 519 crore users in World are currently active on social media. You will be surprised to know that this number is approximately 65 percent of the world's population. That means about 65 percent people are using social media. This report also states that approximately 15 crore people have visited social media platforms in the last 12 months. Talking about India, every third person in the country is active on social media. WhatsApp has more than 53 crore users, followed by YouTube with more than 45 crore users in India. Facebook has approximately 41 crore users, Instagram has 21 crore users while Twitter has 1.5 crore users. On the strength of the increasing spread of Internet in the country and the large population of youth, the world's largest social networking site Facebook has expanded rapidly in India and now it has 41 crore users in the country, which is the highest after America. India uses Facebook the most and America is at second place, the age group with the highest number of Facebook users is 25 to 34 years. About 30% of all active Facebook users fall into this range. This is followed by the 18 to 24 age group, which accounts for 23% of all Facebook users worldwide.

There has been a significant increase in the number of people spending time on social media. By 2022, the US had the third largest social media audience worldwide after China and India. The US is home to more than 300 million social media users at a social networking penetration rate of more than 91 percent.

In terms of internet usage, digital entertainment, digital communications and social media remain the most popular services in India. Indians are increasingly adopting social media platforms as the next e-commerce destination, driving social e-commerce growth of 51 percent year-on-year.

In the present times, the youth wants to create an identity instantly through the use of social media. They want to achieve prestige without waiting, and when their desire is not met, they are not afraid to commit aggressive and criminal acts. There are many benefits of social media, but it has also diverted the minds of the youth.

If seen in a way, even if you knock on every house in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, you will not find as many people as you will find users on Facebook in India. Such a large population has come to social media, how are you able to take advantage of it? This will have to be decided by you only, if this platform is used properly then it will take much less time and will give more benefits on social media platform as compared to going to every house to provide business or service.
